Marcelo Azevedo Guimaraes (Mestre Peixinho) 1947-2011
Is one the most influential capoeira masters in Brazil and in the history of Capoeira. He dedicated most of his life practicing, developing new techniques and teaching capoeira as leading master in Grupo Senzala from Rio de Janeiro. Being the precursor of many capoeira events in Brazil and Europe such as the first European Capoeira meeting, the Scandinavian meetings and forming a large number of exceptional capoeira masters. He was an exceptionally brilliant Berimbau and Atabaque maker, having his instruments being requested by many musicians and masters around the world. Mestre Peixinho was fundamental for the growth of our school in London participating in many Workshops and Batizados since our first year as established capoeira school.
