What is capoeira?

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art incorporating dance, music, self defence and acrobatic techniques, using spectacular kicks and movement in a unique combination. With a fun and welcoming atmosphere and community, all levels are welcome for a good workout and to learn more about this rich cultural tradition.

About Centro Cultural Senzala de Capoeira – London

Julio Cesar Alves de Oliveira – “Mestre Sanhaço” – is a red belt student of the great Mestre Peixinho from Grupo Senzala, which was founded in the 1960s. After teaching for several years in Brazil and Germany, Mestre Sanhaço moved to the UK in 2004 and teaches in London. Mestre Sanhaço regularly returns to Brazil to maintain continuity in his work and to make links between his students in the UK and those in Brazil. Find out more.
